The charming town of Woodbridge with fine restaurants, museums, picturesque harbour and boat trips, lies just 4 miles away and a wealth of attractions are within easy reach. Lovers of history will want to explore Sutton Hoo (NT) and Framlingham Castle; birdwatchers and walking enthusiasts can head to RSPB Minsmere, and Dunwich Forest and Heath. Snape Maltings concert hall and shopping village is well worth a visit, and at the sophisticated little seaside town of Aldeburgh, fish and chips are a must. At elegant Southwold, the summer theatre is ever popular. Nearby Thorpeness is the setting for the famous ’House in the Clouds’ folly and also offers a boating mere. Golf and fishing are found close by. Shop and pub serving food 2 miles

This beautiful county is situated to the south of Norfolk, with Cambridgeshire to the west, Essex to the south, and the North Sea to the east. It has much to offer the visitor, including the wetlands of the Broads, the Wool Towns, and a coastal strip to the east known as “The Sandlings”. There are over 5000km of marked paths as well as national cycle routes, along with country parks, nature reserves such as the Trimley Marshes, and picnic sites.
Suffolk’s notable towns include Ipswich (the county town), Felixstowe, Lowestoft, Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket.
West Suffolk is famed for its archaeological discoveries, especially that at Sutton Hoo in 1939. A grassy mound was found to be a ship burial ground containing a collection of Anglo-Saxon treasures, including a Sword of State, a shield, a helmet, gold and silver bowls, jewellery and a lyre. The site is now owned by the National Trust.
